2014 Bromley Aria Chardonnay

As always we have endeavoured to ‘push the envelope’ creating a wine with personality which stands out from the crowd and demands attention.

Tasting Note

Straw with greens.
This wine is all about structure and texture derived from top quality French Oak, lees stirring and significantly, whole bunch fermentation.
Nougat, citrus rind, sea salt and iodine emanate from the glass with a hint of cut apple.
The palate is beguiling and complex all at once delivering more of that nougat, sea minerals, grapefruit and earthy nuances. The wine lingers in the mouth showcasing astounding richness and length yet finishes with significant cleansing acidity and tannins.
Of great joy and interest now the wine will evolve significantly over the next 5 to 7 years.

Winemaking

The fruit for this wine was sourced from McGlashans Vineyard situated in the Moorabool Valley.
Harvest occurred on a sunny March day and the fruit was delivered to the winery in the late afternoon.
40% of the fruit was whole bunch fermented with cultured yeast. At 2 Baume the ferment was pressed out to minimise oxidation and completed fermentation in used French oak.
The remaining 60% of the fruit was whole bunch pressed then fermented on heavy solids in a combination of new & used French oak. untilising ambient yeast. Both barrel components received some lees stirring during their elevage.
Finally all components were racked and blended, stabilised, lightly fined with skim milk, filtered and then bottled.
