2023 Murray Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
Intense luminous cherry red
Overt cherry, blood plum and red grapefruit
The wine is startling, bold and fresh on the palate
Medium bodied in structure it is incredibly succulent and textural in the mouth delivering a juicy, moreish impression that lingers thanks to the pithy tannins and impeccable acidity.
I would like to suggest that this wine is immensely enjoyable now but will develop beautifully into the early 2030’s
Winemaking
The fruit for this wine is sourced from Oneday Vineyard on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Harvest occurred during March and the fruit was delivered to the winery in the late afternoon. The clones are MV6 and 114
The fruit is 95% destemmed to the fermenter and is allowed to warm up and a natural ferment commenced. Once the skins rise to the surface the cap is plunged once daily to ensure they remain moist.
At completion of the alcoholic fermentation the wine remains on skins for a further 3 days then it is pressed, settled and racked to oak for natural malolactic fermentation.
Following 10 months in oak the barrels were racked and assembled for bottling with no fining.
